Sasuke Uchiha found himself bored out of his mind and a tad skeptical of what happened between him and Itachi. Itachi normally had no time to train with him, and yet, he found the time. Today he was given a mission where he was to patrol the village border and report anything suspicious. It was a simple C rank mission and his sensei thought it wouldn't be hard for an Uchiha. Sasuke knew Neji wanted to go too, but, he apparently wanted to have the time to train with Kakashi. So, it was decided and he packed the needed weapons before walking out the gate.
Speeding along the tree branches he kept his onyx eyes peeled for any suspcious activity. There had been too much quiet of late, and the village was not letting this oppurtunity go unchecked. Stopping on his fifth branch he activated his sharigan and felt a cold go down his back. Licking his dry lips he thought he detected someone...or something nearby. Standing up he threw his kunai near the lowest quadrant of the second tree back.
"Alright...identify yourself now," Sasuke addressed his would be stalker.

Paper butterflys fluttered around Konan's fast materializing form as she appeared in front of Sasuke. "Impressive." She stated, surprised that a mere chunin could detect her so easily. Still, Konan hadn't really been hiding herself, merely watching curiously on pein's orders. She didn't really know why Pein wanted her to watch; though the Akatsuki leader was unpredictable at times, and it was nothing new to Konan when he made unusual orders.
Konan didn't really want to cause a fight or a ruckus, she merely wanted to ask Sasuke some questions. Now that she had been discovered, Konan didn't know if it would lead to a fight or not, but she highly suspected that it would not end by her simply talking and negociating. Ruffling her cloak a bit, Konan calmly waited for any action from Sasuke; would he attack her, or simply talk and hear out her demands first?

Sasuke was startled as she appeared right before him. This woman had the speed of Itachi, he noted, and she could've killed him had the chance presented itself. There was something weird about her being here, and he felt he should alert the authorities...but something kept him there. Curiosity, nah, perhaps it was the fact that even with his sharigan he couldn't identify what move she had used just then. Taking a breath he let his sharigan revert back to his onyx colored eyes and folded his arms. "I said identify yourself!" Sasuke let an edge crawl in his voice as he once again asked for her name.
Fighting her now would only lead to a commotion and the Anbu would arrive to bail him out of a jam. As a chunnin he was supposed to handle situations himself, even after the near disaster his other mission had. This was a simple mission, a rookie one at that, and he wanted to be calm and orderly about it. Brushing a fly off his shoulder he remembered a day when he was so bored he shot fireballs at the flys just to see how many he could clip. The result wasn't pretty, and he was sure a bird had accidentally been caught in the fire.

Konan folded her arms. She had half a mind to ask Sasuke to identify himself first, but she knew that if she did, he might attack her, and that was not what pein had ordered her to do. So she simply let a smile crawl onto her fact, making it seem like she was almost amused at his tone. "I'm Konan." She replied, some paper floating off of her skin as she spoke for some effect, though konan sometimes did that self-conciously too.
Now that she had "identified herself, she thought of some way to make it seem like she wasn't here for a fight. "Now that I've identified myself to you, don't you think it's fair to ask for your name?" She inquired, toying with the blue rose that was always tied to her hair. She had forgotten why it was always there, but its presence soothed Konan, and she always decided to keep it on when deciding wether to throw it away or not.

Sasuke didn't let his guard down even as he heard her name. Her reason for being here lingered in his well trained brain. Being the son of the Kage and brother to Itachi meant he was trained to never let anything slip past him. Should the oppurtunity appear, he would be more then willing to put his life on the line. The Uchiha had a lot to live up to, and as the youngest, he had a lot to show. Konan, that wasn't a name in the village, and he was sure he hadn't seen her name in any of the bingo books. She was a complete mystery, further more, the paper coming off her made him raise his eyebrow.
Asked his name in return, he found himself obliged, as names couldn't get one in trouble. "My name is Sasuke...Sasuke Uchiha," he said slowly, his eyes never leaving her. "Why were you following me?" He kept up the interrogation and didn't want to lose track of her. The way she moved she could outdistance him in a heartbeat, even go so far as to have a kunai at him at the drop of a hat. She was a mystery...and a danger...therefore it was his job to make sure she wasn't a threat.

Konan folded the paper back onto her skin as she thought of a reason. Could she posibbly tell him that she was here on Pein's orders? But then again, she would be exposed as Akatsuki, and that would possibly lead to danger on her part and Sasuke's, something that Konan had no plan to do. So she merely shrugged in response to his question. "No reason." She replied. "You caught my eye while I was wandering, and I decided to observe you for awhile.
No harm in saying that, was there? Konan was sure that there was no giveaway to who she was and where she came from, so she was safe there. Though she had no clue why Pein wanted her to observe this chunin; perhaps it was to give her a break; to give her a usueless task so that she could take some time off of guarding him all day. After all, Konan was always the closest to Pein, it was not unusual for him to be concerned for her wellbeing, though Konan never really thought about needing any sort of break whatsoever.

Sasuke lowered his guard as he heard her answer. That...was just weird, he thought, I was expecting something more diabolical. Why would she observe him? It almost seemed like there was something lying underneath those words, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. "If you were observing me, why did you conceal your apperance then instead of outright say it? Why let me find you out?" Sasuke could've taken the appraisal and be honored he was recognized, but, something just didn't seem right. To simply go along with this, well, it was a Genin mistake and one a fool would make on their first mission out of the village passing by traveling men.
Sasuke waited for an answer and studied the woman. The strange thing was, women were banned from being ninja. Yet, here she was traveling about, and it led him to believe something was right, as he first thought. Sasuke placed his back to the tree and folded his arms over his blue shirt and kept a quiet observation. Konan, he should probably inquire her name from Itachi and see if he knew anything about her.

Konan appeared to be in thought for awhile. "I wasn't sure if you were an enemy or not." She replied after awhile. "If you had been, showing myself would have been a fatal mistake." POinting to the kunai in the tree, Konan continued. "If you had hit me with that, would it have been a good idea for me to come out? You could have wounded me, and It would have been a wound that could have been prevented." Taking the kunai out of the tree, Konan tossed it about lazily.
"There's no reason to be so suspicious." She continued. "As I've said, I'm merely here to observe you, nothing more. It's your choice wether to think of me as the enemy or merely a traveler." Konan was confident that Sasuke had no more reason to doubt her, and she continued to toss the kunai about. After all, she had provided sufficient answers to all of his questions, and he did not know her name. Why else would there be a reason to be suspicious of her?

She has answered my questions sufficently and honestly, he thought, and yet I can't place my finger on why I don't trust her still. Her points are valid, including the incident with the kunai knife. She moves unlike anyone I've seen, and had I hit her, there'd be a report and likely a lecture from my father. All in all, a mere observer is probably what she is...and I can't peg her as an attacker without proving some hostile intent. From the get go; as an observer, she has kept her distance not to reveal herself until I had felt like I was being watched.
"There is no need to fight," Sasuke finally conceded, "as I can prove no threat on your part and a fight would not solve anything here. If you are here to merely observe, on who's orders are you then? What rank are you and what village do you hail from? I am to believe you when you say I caught your eye...and yet to be this close to the village...not your own...makes me wonder..." Sasuke disappeared and reappeared on a branch above her holding the Kunai knife she was lazily tossing about.
