"There is always a choice. Even when your surrounded by enemies or have kunai knives at one another's throat, there is always a way out. Even in the darkest of wars, there is a beakon for which to fall upon and get through alive. I will never allow my comrades to get hurt...and I will never give up on them no matter what. When there is a fighting chance...that is all anyone needs. You speak of death, and I can't say I know much about it, but, I won't let it get the best of me."
"You've got spunk, that's for sure, and it might do you some good, if you use it right." Ashurii muttered. "And ask anyone. Tsunade-shishou, Jiraiya, Gai, Shizune, Kara, Tachi... Anyone. And they'll tell you the same thing. ...well, maybe Gai won't, but Gai is Gai, and Gai is odd, in a strangely good way. ...but anyways, you don't always have a choice, and after this damn war is over, I don't want you or Lee or anyone else to find that out the hard way! There are times when you don't even have a fighting chance, and your choices are die or run. Most would say running is a coward's choice, and most of the time I would agree, but if your back is to the wall, you're outnumbered five to one, and you've had no battle experience, one of you will...will end up dead, Naruto. ...oh wait, there I go with those damn memories surfacing again."
"It is a good thing we're sheltered, as most of us are genin and still incapable of battlefiled combat. But...don't think we're weaklings because of that though, as we have these to prove we're capable of kicking butt. We are full fledged shinobi and when the time comes...we'll be ready for what comes our way. We aren't quitters...and we aren't surely going to lay down our lives here and now doing nothing. I appreciate your words, and I am ready for this jutsu, so here I am...ready for the next step."
"Hey, no one ever said you were weak! And you aren't a full-fledged shinobi until death's knocked on your door and you've gotten out alive. When that happens... Then you'll be a man in my eyes and in everyone else's eyes as well. You too, Lee." Ashurii told them. "I don't expect perfection-- hell, even Itachi and I, on ANBU missions before Fugaku came to power, screwed up sometimes, and that just means we're human. ....though honestly, he makes me doubt that he's human quite a lot." Hopefully, Jiraiya's less tasteful habits hadn't rubbed off on Naruto, and he would completely miss her point in that last sentence.
"You've got a lot of spunk kid, one day I hope that I get to work with you. And I truly mean it."
She had to crack a smile with that one. "Hey, he's going to be the Kage one day, right Naruto?" She believed that he could do it. It might take hm a long time, and he'd need to learn a little concept called 'respect for authority' somewhere along the way, but more cowardly men than he seemed to be already had become Kage.
"Naruto-san, you are so correct! Gai-sensei would be proud of such youthful words!"
And there was the twitch again. Ashurii had to absently wonder how much sanity she had left... Then decided that it was long gone, locked away somewhere where she'd never get it back... and that it had begun to leak away on the night when she had killed for the first time.

Death was such a trivial thing to him, and yet, if it came at him he would try his best to avert any touch upon himself. The Pervy Sage had told him how he had faced death once and how it came at him with a gentle outstretched hand. Death could be a welcoming site, when one was on its doorstep. A simple handshake and suddenly they would feel light as a feather, all wounds healed and the next life waiting for them. To see old friends who were lost was always so tempting, but, Jiraiya had warned him to never go into the light...not until he knew it was his time. When Naruto had asked him how he ended up on death's door, he avoided the subject all together. Death and war walked together hand in hand, and well, he wanted to prevent any death among his comrades with all his power.
Yet Ashurii spoke of being cornered, where all option to fight was cut off. It was a difficult scenario presented, he mused. To have your back to the wall and the only two options were to run or die. To die meant surrendering to the future of one's life early, while running meant they could live to fight another day. Though, Naruto found himself thinking, running was sometimes not an option. If one's comrades were in the thick of battle and you left, well, they wouldn't know if you were alive or dead. Leaving them to fight their own battle was part of life, but, it also meant they only thought of themselves before others. Too many thoughts, he mused, plus this is the most thinking I've done ever.
Naruto smiled and nodded his head. "Yeah, to be Hokage that is my dream," he said glowing with hope for the future. "Though everyone who has a headband is a shinobi, whether you wish to see it or not. Once this headband is on our heads, we stop becoming the kids in the academy, or the makeshift one we have here. Life is filled with danger and death and inevitable confrontations, and, to get our dreams to come true we have to accept it and embrace it full on." Naruto kept his smile on his face and felt glad the new guy and Bushy Brow were with him on this. Still, Ashurii spoke of teaching him a new jutsu, but, here they stood continually talking philosophy of life and death. What was it she was focused on...the death or the living?

Kara nodded to Naruto and said, "Your goal is very...admirable, to say the least." It was every young ninja's dream to be the leader, and the strongest of the Village, but there was something about this boy, something that was different than anyone else he had ever met. He leaned in to Ashurii and whispered lowly, "Is he always so...full of vigor? I've never met anyone like him." He put his hand in his pocket and continued, "And I've already asked them some questions, but would you mind later if we could talk about the situation around here, just general things, I can explain my lack of any knowledge of what happened if you would be so kind." He waited for a response.

The comment about Gai completely went over Lee's head... As did many others. "Naruto-san's goal certainly is one deserving of encouragement! Instead of wasting his youth away, he spends it working towards is ultimate goal! It is a thing of beauty!" He said, with the faint hint of tears of joy brimming his eyes.

eep. ashurii's fault, sorry. and threads are liquid time, so you can be in as many as you want at one time."Yeah, to be Hokage that is my dream. Though everyone who has a headband is a shinobi, whether you wish to see it or not. Once this headband is on our heads, we stop becoming the kids in the academy, or the makeshift one we have here. Life is filled with danger and death and inevitable confrontations, and, to get our dreams to come true we have to accept it and embrace it full on."
"Wise words coming from a kid. You've got it right-- but it's not always going to work that way. I'm trying to tell you that! Even if you accept it and embrace it... Work towards your dreams... At any moment, especially now, you could be eradicated. I know it isn't exactly what I'm supposed to do, but I want to make sure you guys don't have to go through all the blood and death and bullshit that I did. When I was your age, I captained an ANBU squad, one of my dreams, but then everything went horribly wrong and I almost felt I wanted to do something else with my life. Something where I could keep my reason, my sanity, and my purpose, because I never intended to become a cold-blooded murderer." Ashurii told them.
It was the honest truth, in a rather compacted form from what she would want to tell them. She hadn't become a shinobi for any other reason than to have a purpose. And what that purpose was? Hell, she was still trying to find out herself. She hadn't thought she would ever rise to ANBU-- that had become her dream only after seeing the way members of the elite squads were treated. They got respect, and respect was something she hadn't had when she was younger-- she probably didn't get much respect even now. But it was hard trying to get Naruto to understand her point of view. If only he'd been raised in the shithole we call Konoha... Then he'd understand. But I can't wish that on anyone...
She had been about to reply to Kara when he just walked off, irritating her slightly; she had been getting to his question, but teaching life lessons to genin was just as important. She chose to ignore Lee's words, as she didn't really have anything to add on to her rant through his words.

Blood, Murder, Death, Naruto rolled his eyes, typical topics for an adult to rant about. Seriously, can't they talk about anything positive? Yes I know I can't grasp what you say, so what? He wanted to say, but, he kept to himself as he didn't want another long lecture. It was something adults did, and he had already gotten an earfull from his sensei on numerous occassions when he and Kiba would slack off. She had told them she would teach a new jutsu, but how long ago was that? It was a wonder he was still standing, as the sun was just about midlength and it was higher when he first woke up. Naruto looked over at Bushy Brow and he didn't say much else...to what he already said.
Kara on the other hand was fidgeting and getting rather impatient. I don't blame him, he thought, rants like these can take up too much of a Genin's time. Though what surprised him was that Kara had walked off. The guy just got there, but, who was he to say who could stay or go? The Liberation Camp was often flooded with people from neighboring or far off villages, so, he bade him a silent farewell. So now it was just him, Bushy Brow, and of course Ashurii. Well, he thought, might as well get this wagon back on course.
"Alright Ashurii...enough talk...teach me this new jutsu!" Naruto stared over at the woman and waited to be taught something. The Pervy Sage was busy, so, he had to be taught something to get his mind on track to someday becoming Hokage. Sitting on his butt wouldn't accomplish squat, hence why he had stayed here during her rants. Now was the time to fulfill a tiny portion of his dream, that, and to prepare himself for tougher foes out there.

A silent red head sat in a tree not to far off, observing the conversation between the four shinobi. Naruto's always so headstrong about what he wants and what he says... She thought to herself. It amazed her sometimes how oblivious he could be to some things and still come out on top. He was always so determined to get to his goal. And she? She had no goal. She had nothing to live for. Friends? No. She tucked away every part of her that someone could possibly befriend and masqueraded around as a text-book killer to prevent herself from gaining any friends. Why? The pain of loosing someone close to death scares this poor girl to no end. Family? All she has is her father... Whom tries to push away for fear of losing him the same way she lost her mother. Love? Puh! Love was alright, and there was someone would had captured her interest, but the same reason that she has no friends, she pushes him away. Sometimes even more violently then others who have tried to get close to her. She frowned inwardly when the Iwa nin walked off without a word. Well that was rude. She commented mentally. Some people... Well, he had been trying to get answers for a while. It was understandable if he had gotten fed up with waiting. Kuro, as she was known, continued to sit in the tree and observe the three nin. Why? Perhaps it was because he was there....

murder, please tell ashurii she was right in thinking ashurii-the-character knows about gai killing yakshi. xD y'know, because we agreed before that shinu and ashurii were friends before she got murdered, so she should know... right?"You can come down now, Kuro." Ashurii called out in a singsong voice, eying the redhead perching in a tree. Damn, seeing her makes me miss Shinu so much... Kuro's mother had been a good friend to Ashurii, despite the several years in difference of age. But she had been murdered... and Ashurii wanted the blood of the heartless bastard who did it on her own hands-- it didn't matter to her that he was already dead, slain by Gai.
"Alright Ashurii...enough talk...teach me this new jutsu!"
"Ah, now see, this is a perfect example of not always getting what you want!" Ashurii told him with a grin. "I could just walk off right now, and maybe you'd never get to learn that jutsu. Of course, I'm not that bitchy... not normally, anyways... but just think about it. There'd be nothing you could do to stop me." She couldn't help but let out a snicker and ruffle his hair again.

~OOC~ Ashu, Yakshi's death thread hasn't been made yet. xD But yeah She would probably know about it.
~IC~ Kuro gave a small sigh. Higher ranked ninja were a pain to genin who were trying not to be seen. Ashurii... She knew my mother before she... Banishing the thought before the memories decided to surface once more.
The red eyed wonder jumped down from her branch and leaned against the tree she had been sitting in a moment ago, scarcely showing any sign that she acknowledged the other presence.

Naruto folded his arms and rolled his eyes at what Ashurri said. "Make up your mind then, cause I have things to do. The Pervy sage isn't around to teach me, and, I need a new jutsu in case someday I really get in a bind. I can't wait forever, and threatning not to teach me, after having waited through several rant long filled lectures, I deserve something." Naruto turned his back and noticed the red haired girl not too far away.
"Who is...kuro?" Naruto wasn't really familiar with this girl. He had seen her around with super bushy brow sensei, but, he just thought she was another pupil of his. Still, he wasn't exactly going to walk up to them and demand to know who she was. Apparently Ashurii knew her, so, he just left it at that. Yearning for the jutsu still he tapped his sandaled foot on the ground and waited still.
